Hello, my seminar focuses on problem-based projects. We worked with industry practitioners in the hospitality and travel industries. The projects enable students to research and analyze problems, then propose ideas as solutions for challenges faced by managers of hospitality and travel organizations. We also bond by exploring Tokyo and enjoying local culture. We work hard and play hard! We are a small cohort of energetic people who love people! 「こんにちは、私のゼミは問題解決型のプロジェクトが中心です！ホスピタリティ業界や旅行業界の実務家の方々と一緒に取り組んできました！このプロジェクトでは、学生が問題を調査・分析し、ホスピタリティや旅行会社のマネージャーが直面する課題に対する解決策としてのアイデアを提案することができます。また、東京を探索し、地元の文化を楽しむことで絆を深めました。私たちはよく研究し、よく遊びます！私たちは、人が大好きなエネルギッシュで少人数の集団です！ゼミの活動をもっと知っていただくためにも、ぜひお立ち寄りください！」
・演習テーマ / Theme
Japan tourism development has experienced an exponential growth in the past years. This course is designed to provide students with an insight into and understanding of the nature of hospitality and travel businesses. Students will be working in small task groups to fulfil a remit in consultation with a hospitality or travel organization, and design and conduct appropriate research to complete their task. The course enables students to apply knowledge acquired and develop further the skills of research, team working, time management, communication and decision- making.
・授業内容 / Activities
＜3年次 / 3rd Year＞
This course will be conducted in English language. The weekly activities enable students to gain first-hand experience in data collection and analysis, and enhance their critical thinking and writing skills. Depending on how the COVID-19 situation evolves, students will have the opportunities to refine their interactive skills by meeting people from all walks of life.
「この授業は、英語で行われます。毎週の活動を通して、生徒たちはデータ収集と分析の実地経験を積み、批判的思考力と作文能力を高めることができるようになります。コロナウイルス感染症の状況がどのようになるかにもよりますが、学生はあらゆる立場の人々との出会いを通して、対話能力を磨く機会を得ることができます。」
＜4年次/ 4th Year＞
Students have the option of extending their project from the previous year, or start a new one. The extended project must relate to academic debates that are relevant to the topic under discussion.
「4年次には、学生は前年度のプロジェクトを継続するか、新たにプロジェクトを立ち上げるかを選択することができます。プロジェクトを継続する場合は、議論中のトピックに関連する学術的な議論に関連している必要があります。」

Not required.
